The incident occurred in Norwalk on Friday, April 26, in the rear of 607 Main Ave.
According to Deputy Chief Jonathan Maggio of the Norwalk Fire Department, arriving firefighters found a 1,000-square-foot area of brush burning between the Norwalk River and the rear parking area.
Before firefighters arrived, Maggio said staff from the local business Dave's Planet Pizza pulled the victim from the fire and up an embankment to safety.
Firefighters from Rescue 2 began treatment of the burn victim while members from Engine 1 extinguished the fire.
The victim was transported by Norwalk Hospital and was airlifted and was then airlifted to the Bridgeport Burn Center for severe burn injuries, Maggio said.
The Norwalk Fire Marshall's Division, in conjunction with the Norwalk Police Department, is still investigating the fire.
"The Norwalk Fire Department commends the courage and brave efforts of the good Samaritans in what likely saved the victim's life," Maggio added.
The burn victim was not identified, nor why they were in the area of the fire.
